Brussels Protest Demands Constitutional Protections for Right to Abortion as Roe v. Wade's Shadow Hits Europe

Thursday, around 1,000 protestors gathered opposite the American embassy in Brussels to voice their anger at the Supreme Court’s decision to revoke the right to abortion from American women, and demand swift action from the Belgian government to enshrine this right at home.

With the right to abortion yet to be completely decriminalised and legislated into the constitution in Belgium, people’s worries are on the rise.

About US

Independent reporting from the heart of Europe

We are an upstart independent outlet based in Brussels dedicated to covering local happenings in Belgium, with a wider view on global events. We aim to tell stories from the perspective of the people we speak to, allowing them to have a voice articulated in their own words.

Our newsletter, published every Friday, aims to provide an accessible view on niche, impactful stories from beyond the headlines. These will be in no particular order, with no particular focus area, covering stories from Belgium and around the world.

We hope to use this as a medium to share the things we find interesting, insightful, and falling short of the mainstream coverage they merit in our eyes.

we are open to article submissions that fit the vision of our editorial team

As a nascent project, we welcome proposals and pitches from writers or journalists who would like to join the publication as contributors. Please direct your submissions to notesfrombelgiumnews@gmail.com
